If you’re flying through JFK anytime soon, heads up — Terminal 1 construction delays are still ongoing and expected to continue through January at least. I was there recently and the detour signage is… let’s call it a work in progress. Give yourself extra time if your gate is in that area.
The good news is Terminal 4 remains fully operational, restaurants and all. So if you’re connecting through JFK and have a choice, Terminal 4 is the smoother experience right now. Use the AirTrain for connections between terminals — walking during active construction zones is not a great time.
Probably should have led with this: if you’re booking new flights through JFK for the next few months, check which terminal your airline uses before you commit. That’s what makes staying informed about airport construction endearing to frequent flyers — it saves you from showing up to a mess you didn’t plan for.
